Training Week 2026

Training Week 2026 is underway! An annual event for the INSPIRE DTP and now the IGNITE DLA, Training Week is a core component of the training programme and brings together a blend of external trainers and in-house expertise.

Training Week introduces our postgraduate researchers to the skills and knowledge required for a career in environmental science. Training sessions focus on themes such as:

  • The current job market and tips for career success after the PhD.
  • The pros and cons of working in academia, industry, government and beyond.
  • How science can impact government policy.
  • An Introduction to academic publishing.
  • Talking and listening to diverse audiences.
  • Effectively communicating science in the media
  • Maximising the real-world impact of research
  • Navigating the research funding landscape and developing competitive grant proposals.

We are pleased to be welcoming back Dr Helen Goulding, director of Quercus Training, Dr Kris De Meyer, SciConnect Ltd, and Dr Joanna Young, Director of Electv Training, who are all regular contributors.

Training Week will be taking place from 7 to 11 September.
