Are you a current undergraduate student?
Are you considering a career in natural and environmental sciences?
Ever wanted to know what it would be like to do a PhD in natural and environmental sciences?
The National Environment Research Council (NERC) Research Experience Placements (REPs) scheme is a fantastic opportunity for undergraduate students considering a career in the environmental sciences to undertake a paid summer placement on a research project.
Through the IGNITE Doctoral Landscape Award, NERC will be funding three placements for the summer of 2026, and they are now live!
The REPs scheme targets students pursuing their first undergraduate degree or an integrated Master’s, with a focus on addressing diversity challenges and the quantitative skills gap in environmental sciences. If you are interested, consider applying to join our programme and help us shape the future of environmental science.
Please see last year’s REP Poster Showcase for examples of some of the projects that were undertaken.
