Visit Days and Interview Week

It has been an incredibly hectic few weeks for the IGNITE DLA!

We have been busy reviewing a mountain of applications for the 2026/27 intake, and it’s safe to say that the quality of our applicants has been extremely high.

Last week, the IGNITE Delivery team and a host of lead supervisors thoroughly enjoyed meeting IGNITE applicants at both our online and in-person Visit Days. Those lucky applicants who had been invited to interview, or were on a reserve list, joined us online to listen to a series of presentations from the IGNITE Delivery team about the programme, and had the opportunity to speak to current PhD students. Those visiting in person were also treated to a sizeable lunch, a tour of the National Oceanography Centre and an opportunity to meet the supervisor of the project they were due to be interviewed for.

This week was even busier as we entered interview week. The IGNITE Delivery team, kindly supported by some of the lead supervisors, interviewed 20 applicants per day, followed by a lengthy follow-up meeting to discuss the strengths of each applicant. We would like to thank each and every applicant who interviewed for the programme, and for the time and dedication of all the supervisors involved in this process.

The IGNITE Delivery team are now in a position to start reviewing their shortlisted applicants and is very excited to be moving one step closer to making offers for our 2026/27 intake!
